I had gone to college and trained as a web designer, I loved computers and really wanted to get into web design.
My first job offer as a Web Designer came from a local company it wasnt very big but had some high profile clients it dealt with alot of the On-line Banking sites.
My main focus was to be the design of the home page for each new on-line banking client and also the existing on-line banking clients if I could see a way to improve their Home Page, the company i worked for liked to do this to every new web designer it was what they said as a fresh pair of eyes so your able to look at an existing home page see how it works, and see what you think can be improved upon if anything.
I loved my new job and I felt that even though this was my first job since leaving education they had really given me a role with responsibility as some of their clients had contracts with them for thousands and thousands of pounds so they were putting alot of trust in me.
What I didn't know until into a few months into my job was that my first challenge was actually a test the sites that I was looking over were not actually sites for our clients they were dummy sites and some of them had specific flaws and the test was to see if i picked out those flaws or not, two of them were perfect there was nothing that could be done to improve them, they had the latest technology attached to them and security wise they were impeccable, I was lucky I spotted all the mistakes that had been made but the two that were perfect were giving me problems, i had noticed myself that yes they were perfect but only when using a particular browser they weren't actually compatible with all browsers which in my eyes was a problem as not every Internet user used the same browser.
I took my findings to my boss and he was amazed at how well i had done and told me that i did definately have a flair for web design and that he thought i would have a long and happy future with the company.
