I enjoyed my current job working for 'Dawson & Scholes web developers' admittedly I wasn't anything glamorous, whilst the very intelligent, well trained people upstairs were glued to their PC getting on with their very important tasks of designing, producing and developing their important fractions of the world wide web I was glued to my very own PC completing all the administration tasks thatsuch a process needed. Not as important as those upstairs maybe, but well paid, very busy and something I loved.
However, you'd think having a role in such a company would mean thatthe internet would be second nature to me and that I would whizz around my browser like it was as simple as making a cup of tea, on many occasions I would be,but one thing Ireally hada nightmare with when I started to participate and left me regularly feeling the urge to discard of my PC out of the window was the much talked about apparently joyful experience of on-line banking.
I'd been with my current bank for nearly twenty years having joined when I was a small child and never had any problems with my banking experience. But over the last few years all I'd heard about from friends, family and colleagues was how useful on-line banking is. How it's so much better for the environment if you go on and refuse paper statements because you can view your accounts just by opening your browser and how much easier it is to do all your transactions online.
So, I'd bitten the bullet when it came to the not liking change part of my personality and eventually did explore the idea of on-line banking. Only to be told in the first few minutes that I wasn't able to use the site unless I upgraded my browser, of course that irritated me immediately. Not liking change I was fairly annoyed at the prospect of changing my internet browsing software and my banking habits in the same day! But still I did as I was told and followed the process.
I was then sent a pin through the post, which seemed to take weeks to arrive, only to try and log in with it and be told that it was incorrect, I sent e-mail upon e-mail requesting new information, explaining my pin didn't work. But then when I eventually did get my correct pin and tried to log in again the site decided to tell me that I needed to upgrade certain software in my PC to see certain areas. Which I did.
After weeks of trying I was finally able to get into the site, and miraculously view all of it, only to find that wherever I clicked to do anything it crashed my PC, which I decided may have been a memory problem and as I was getting a new one soon would leave it alone until then.
When I did get my new pc I was finally able to access my account, make payments, check my balance, view my statements and all the other lovely little experiences my bank allowed me to do. I haven't looked back since and am now in the percentage of the population that relies heavily on internet banking, but I felt I really deserved to see a nice bonus payment in my account with all the effort it took to actually be able to use it!
