The internet is famous for one thing, and one thing in particular: information. And not just information - information overload. The web has often been called the information highway. And, just as often, the fire hydrant of information - as in trying to take a sip from a fire hydrant.
I myself principally use the internet as a means of figuring out which sites are scams. One of my favorite sites for doing this is PTC-Investigations. Another useful site is GPT Boycott. However, PTC-Investigations actively and almost daily updates the PTCs, and actively tests new ones that are suggested.
One of the first things that you'll need to search anything on the net... would be an internet connection. You don't have internet unless you're connected to it! The second step (if you intend on finding information), is to go to google.com. After that, it should be fairly obvious.
However, if it isn't, I'll tell you: there is a search box (rectangular); click inside of it and type the thing you want to search, whether it be "making honey from bees" or "how to make money online". The net is a wonderful place to research things, and with google around, it's never been easier.
If you're looking to make money online, trying by an information method would not be recommended, if only because after you sell an ebook online, it can quite easily be given out freely, by torrents or anything else. The information highway is the ideal place, however, for ads.
If you want flashy graphics, then the faster your internet connection, the better. However, if you're a website designer, you'll want to keep in mind user's expectations, and that their internet connection might not be up to par with the net, or even with their peers.
A slow loading time for a website can mean death. If a visitor does not stay on the website because it is not loading, the chance of a re-visit is quite low. Better to have few graphics and an unimpressive site, and have a few visitors, than to have a flashy site with no visitors at all.
The web, the "information highway", will continue to be visited more and more, with people, consequently, doing hard labor less. At least, this is what I'm hoping will be the case. I really don't like doing hard physical labor.
